Diya Aur Baati Hum is the story of Sandhya's struggles, who dreams of becoming an IPS officer. She dreams to break the boundaries of her confined existence of middle class values. The story is also about Sooraj, who is a self made man. Sooraj runs a famous sweet shop near his house.

Episode 400 - In this episode, Meenakshi hides the ornaments in cow dung

Sandhya solves Swamiji's puzzle and believes that the ornaments are hidden in the temple. Meenakshi finds the ornaments hidden under an idol. She binds it in hay and takes it to the cowshed, before hiding them in cow dung. Sooraj tells Sandhya not to lose hope when they fail to find the ornaments. The next day, the milkman refuses to sell milk to the Rathi family because of the alleged theft. Chaturi milks the cow. Sandhya asks the family to get ready for Maha Shivratri.
